Update with me
It's been a little while since I posted, and since I can't really think of anything special I'd like to post, I thought I'd just give an update. My kids are back in school, which usually gives me alot of free time during the day to ponder things. When I'm not pondering I'm doing dishes, laundry, planning dinner, running errands, and various housekeeping duties. Sounds boring huh? I agree, but when I talk to friends of mine that are stuck in a job they hate, but stay there because they have bills to pay, it makes me grateful to be at home. I'm lucky I guess, because my husband provides us with enough income so I don't have to work. It does get lonely at times, but my kids usually provide me with enough excitement when they get home that I completely forget about it. And I have awesome friends who e-mail and call me to brighten my day. Given the current situation with the economy and the world in general, I am truly blessed. My life is far from perfect, and I know I'm not alone in that, but it's working for me right now.

And the winner is..........

Well, another Hami Awards night has come and gone. Some people left very happy, and some left very disappointed. And those not nominated just had a good time. I kind of prefer that better. When you're not nominated, there are no expectations and you can just have fun. I for one was a complete and total wreck having being nominated for two awards. As I sat there waiting for my categories to be announced, I got severe cotton mouth and my knees started to shake. That doesn't sound like fun to me. Then when I was fortunate enough to win my awards, I had a very difficult time trying to find the words to show my appreciation. After I sat back down I thought about all of the wonderful things I should've said and felt terrible for not saying them. On top of all of that, my daughter, my husband, and my mother all think that my daughter Jessica, who was nominated for the same award, got robbed and deserved to win. I was told that I won because I have alot of friends at the theater. So the point I'm trying to make is that even when you win, you lose too. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, although I have two nice trophies on a shelf gathering dust as I write this blog.

Schools Out For Summer!!
Doesn't that song just pop into your head? Anyway, my kids have 3 more days of school left before they break for the summer. They are soooooo ready too. I'm not quite sure that I am, but it will come anyway. In a month or so, you'll find me checking the calendar to see when they go back. I enjoy having the days to myself. I can actually get stuff done, or not get stuff done. Pretty much up to me. I like that. Don't get me wrong, I love my children dearly and I love to spend time with them. It's just an awful lot of time. I can hear it now. "Mommy, I'm bored!" or the ever-popular "What are we going to do today Mommy?" By August I'm going to be so exhausted from entertaining them, that I'm going to beg for school to start again. We have a few trips planned that should help keep them occupied. We're spending a week in Orlando, a week at a beach house, and maybe we'll fly up to NY to visit grandma and grandpa. That third one is a maybe, but I'd like to go. We'll just have to see. Bye for now!

My Two Hams

You gotta love this photo. It was taken during our little trip, notice the clouds threatening to ruin our day? Some other kids would just stand there next to each other and manage to crack a smile. Not my kids. They put on big smiles and strike a pose like they're on stage. It's times like this that I know part of me has rubbed off on them, and I can't stop smiling. Enjoy! :)

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!
Well, we're back from our camping trip. Or maybe I should refer to it as the camping trip from HELL! I think maybe I jinxed myself by asking for nice weather. We got to our campground, it was a pretty nice facility and we had a beautiful spot overlooking Lake Whipporwhill. We set up our tent and stuff, did a little fishing, had dinner, and then the bad weather came. Rain, loads of it. Thunder, lightning, the works. We escaped in our vehicle like refugees and went to a shopping center to hang out while the weather passed. Then we went back and settled in for the night. It rained all night and the wind was howling. The kids were freaking out and I don't think we slept for more than an hour or two at a clip. Morning came and the forecast was for more rain. Billy and I were shot from the first night so we decided to bail and head for a hotel. You may call us wussies if you like, but we couldn't go through that again. It was a good thing too because the weather was worse the second night. All of our stuff was soaked and our screen house collapsed from the water and wind. Ants got into some of our stuff, even though we had it packed in totes with garbage bags around it. On a positive note, the hotel was awesome and we spent alot of time at Disney. So we got some lemons, but we made some kick ass lemonade! :)

Roughing It (Well kinda)
Our family is embarking on an adventure in camping. It's something my husband enjoys and he has wanted to do this for a long time. Well, we leave in a few days and although I've been camping before, I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. We have a very nice tent, my husband and I practiced setting it up in our backyard. We have all the necessary gear to bring to make life bearable while we "become one with nature". I just hope our kids enjoy the experience and not dwell on the fact that there's no computer, no TV, no video games, and no BATHROOM. Stuff like that. There are toilet facilities with showers, but as Dorothy says "There's no place like home." Since we're staying near the Orlando area, we've decided to treat them to the Pirate and Princess Party at the Magic Kingdom. We're all dressing up and it should be a good time. I also hope the weather is kind to us, but I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Wish me luck! :)

10 Things About Me
I was reading a couple of my friends blogs, namely Paul and Jen, and I saw a game called TAG. Well, nobody really tagged me, and that's okay. No it isn't, I'm super-pissed. Screw all of you! Thanks, I feel much better now. Anyway, here are ten things about me:
1. I have a skin condition called Hyper Pigmentation which is why people rarely see me without makeup.
2. When I was a gymnast, I trained with Kurt Thomas and Kathy Johnson. If you don't know them, look them up.
3. I love to ride horses.
4. My favorite place to be (besides the theater) is the beach.
5. My first car was a Chevrolet Chevette and I totalled it 2 days before my high school graduation.
6. The worst job I ever had was a waitress at a Jewish retirement home. Borscht anyone?
7. My two biggest fears of all time- snakes & rejection.
8. I am a die-hard Jets fan.
9. I can't drink carbonated beverages because I get really bad hiccups.
10. I can play the flute.
There you have it, hope it was enlightening. Ta ta for now!

My Dysfunctional Animals
Our family currently has 2 dogs and 2 cats. Each one of these animals have some kind of psychological issue. I'll explain. We have a 10 year old female toy poodle named Belle. Every time I go to feed her she barks and growls at me. An axe murderer can come through the front door and start hacking us all to bits and she wouldn't do a thing, but when I try to feed her she acts like a pit bull. Go figure. We have a 5 year old cat named Leo. She is the most loving cat in the world. She likes to pull out her hair in huge clumps. The vet said it was stress. What stress? She's a cat! Then there's Josie, our other cat. She's 2 years old. She can't make up her mind. She meows to go outside and I let her out. 2 minutes later she's scratching to come in. 2 minutes after that she's meowing to go out. This could go on all day if I allow it. And then there's Callie, our 1 year FEMALE Brittany Spaniel. She's a maniac, plain and simple. She's a bird dog by nature, but she'd rather hunt lizards and frogs. One day when I was walking her, there were some cranes on our lawn. No reaction. 2 seconds later I'm being dragged down the sidewalk because a tiny lizard was scurrying about. This nut job also likes to hump the poodle and my six year old daughter. She's a female for pete's sake! Look, I know they have small brains and all, but doesn't anyone think it's a little peculiar? I do.
Me (In A Nutshell)
Welcome to my blog spot. This is my very first one. Two of my children have accounts on MySpace and they have been bugging me to get one. Well, I'm really not interested in a MySpace account, so I thought this would work nicely. A good friend of mine also has an account so I figured I'd try out one myself. My name is Jeanine, but my friends call me J9. No, not K9 ( ha ha ha), J9. Can't tell you how many times I've heard that during my lifetime. I'm 40 years old, ouch, I'm married and have 3 beautiful daughters. Their ages are 21, 15, and 6. You're probably wondering why they are spaced so far apart from each other. Good question. I've heard it alot. The answer I give most people is that I had the first one when I was a little too young, and the last one when I was a little too old. The middle one was just right. Do the math and figure it out for yourself. We've been living in Florida for almost 9 years. Before that I was born and raised in New York. I am a substitute teacher, mainly because I never got my degree. It's on my to-do list. My husband is a work-a-holic. I never see the man, but I know he exists. My 21 year old just moved out last week. I have mixed feelings about that, but I guess you gotta cut the cord at some point. When I'm not being a teacher, mom, and wife, I'm doing theater. It's my passion, my sanctuary, my escape, my thing. I've done some really good shows, and some not so good shows. I've met some truly talented and wonderful people who I am honored to call friends and even more honored that they call me their friend. I hope you like my spot and look forward to posting more. Come back and visit me soon!
